Cellar in a dream
According to old dream books, a cellar in a dream keeps memories, supplies and whatever you set aside long ago.
Folk tradition reads the cellar as the pantry of the soul: old memories live there, but so do the stores for winter. A full, orderly cellar is taken as a sign of safety and good housekeeping. If it was dark, there is no need to worry; it is believed to show only something you would rather not remember, which no longer has any hold on you. As soon as you switch on the light or step outside in the dream, it is said you have left that story behind.
The most common dreams
Dreaming that you are going down into a cellar
The descent is read as a look into yourself and your old memories. People say that whoever goes down bravely always finds something of value.
Dreaming of a dark cellar
By folk belief, the darkness stands for something unclear about the past. The answer arrives on its own once you stop rushing and worrying in advance.
Dreaming of a cellar full of winter preserves
Full shelves are considered a sign of plenty and a calm winter. It is believed a period lies ahead in which you will not be short of anything that matters.
Dreaming of water in the cellar
Water in the cellar is read as feelings that have been gathering for a long time. Clear water is a good sign, and murky water only asks you to talk things over with someone.
These interpretations come from folk tradition and are meant for fun; they do not predict the future and are not advice for life decisions.
