Rat in a dream
A rat in a dream is read mildly, as a nudge to mind the small things and a sign of resourcefulness in a tight spot.
The rat is no favorite guest, yet folk remember it as an extremely resourceful and careful animal. In a dream it is read as a small worry nibbling at your peace, most often about the home, tidiness or supplies. The dream is believed to announce nothing bad; it only prompts you to sort something out in good time. If it frightened you, that shows tiredness, not trouble. When you chase it off in the dream, you are said to have outgrown the worry already.
The most common dreams
Dreaming of a rat in the house
This is read as a reminder to look over the pantry, the bills or the promises you have made. Old folk say an orderly house soon brings back peaceful sleep.
Dreaming of a white rat
A white rat is considered a good sign: help is believed to reach you from someone you did not expect it from. Do not judge ahead of time by appearances.
Dreaming that a rat runs away from you
A rat running off means that a small worry is backing away by itself. By folk belief, all it took was for you to look straight at it without flinching.
Dreaming of many rats
Folk read a host of rats as too many small chores that have piled up. Deal with the easiest one first, and the rest will look smaller as well.
These interpretations come from folk tradition and are meant for fun; they do not predict the future and are not advice for life decisions.
