You know the password – you are just tired of typing it
An insurance policy, a lab report or a pay statement often arrives as a PDF with a password. Once it is in your own archive, the password just gets in the way. Unlock PDF gives you a copy of the same document without protection.
The condition: you must know the password
This tool does not guess, bypass or crack passwords. If the document asks for a password to open, you have to enter it exactly as it is. It is meant for your own documents and those you are entitled to open; removing protection from someone else's document without permission may be against the law. If you have forgotten the password, ask the sender for it or for a new copy.
What is removed
- The password to open – afterwards the document opens with no prompt.
- Restrictions – limits on printing, copying text or editing that were set on the document.
The content is left alone: pages, text and images stay the same.
If you get an error
"Incorrect password" usually comes down to something small: passwords are case-sensitive, so check Caps Lock. If you left the field empty and the document does need a password to open, the tool asks you to enter it.
Where the file and password go
Processing runs on the SnoopyWap server. The file and password are sent over an encrypted connection, used only for this job and deleted as soon as it is done. The limit is 95 MB.
An unlocked file opens for anyone who gets hold of it, so mind where you keep it. When you are done – after Compress PDF or Merge PDF, say – you can lock it again with a new password in Protect PDF.
